NASSAU, BAHAMAS, February 16, 2005 ? Colina Holdings Bahamas Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Terence (Terry) Hilts to its board of directors.
Mr. Hilts, who recently retired from FirstCaribbean International Bank (FCIB), first came to The Bahamas in 1964 as an employee of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and during his 40 year tenure rose to the top of that organization while making significant contributions to the development of the banking sector in The Bahamas.
Mr. Emanuel Alexiou, Chairman of the Board of Colina Holdings Bahamas Ltd., thanked Mr. Hilts for accepting the nomination to the Board. ?We are fortunate to add Terry to our board,? said Mr. Alexiou. ?His reputation as a man of integrity and commitment is the result of a long career that has been dedicated to contributing to the growth and development of Bahamian bankers and the Bahamian financial sector. We welcome him and look forward to the benefit of his insight and guidance as Colina continues to pursue its vision of becoming a Bahamian entity that raises the bar on industry standards. His experience as a leader in the financial services sector will be an invaluable asset to Colina.?
Mr. Hilts retired from CIBC/FCIB last year after some 40 years of dedicated service to that institution. Mr. Hilts? career development echoed that of his bank, as he moved throughout the Bank and its branches to eventually become Managing Director, a Director of FCIB and Chairman of the Board of Directors of FCIB Finance Company (Bahamas) Limited, a position he still holds.
Widely credited with leading and directing CIBC (Bahamas) Ltd.?s successful Initial Public Offering, Mr. Hilts has held office in many local professional bodies such as the Clearing Banks Association, the Bahamas Security Market Task Force, The Bahamas Institute of Bankers, and the Bahamas Financial Services Strategic Task Force.
Mr. Hilts has also played an active role in the life of his community over the years, and in 1992 was awarded with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow designation by the Rotary Club of East Nassau and served as President of the club the following year. He is an Honorary Life Member of the Bahamas Red Cross Society, and from 1986-2004, served as Treasurer for the Centre for Deaf Children. Mr. Hilts has been actively involved in the development of our Bahamian youth having served as a little league baseball coach while in Grand Bahama and as President of the Bahamas Jr. Golf Association for some 12 years.
?Terry is one of those rare, exemplary people who you can?t help but admire,? said Mr. Alexiou. ?He and his wife Gloria raised a family while he built a career legacy of lasting impact, and contributed to our community in his civic pursuits as well. It is easy to see why we are thrilled to have him as a member of our board of directors.?
